ARCO Lisboa 2022
Presented artists: Nika Kutateladze and Nato Sirbiladze
For Art ARCOlisboa 2022 Artbeat is proud to present a duo show by Nika Kutateladze and Nato Sirbiladze.
Current exposition includes paintings and collages of the two different generation Georgian artists. This exhibition creates whole chain of oppositions and unites the following concepts - reality and imaginary, conscious and unconscious, being and non-being.
Nato Sirbiladze’s artworks create maximal, intense and concrete micro spaces. Her personages whether they are enigmatic beings, things or phantasmagoric animals make us to participate in myth creation. Artist achieves maximal intensity of painting by accumulation of color and laconic and clear expressivity. Sirbiladze creates tense reality in micro-space, where imaginary from reality, real beings from phantasmagoric/dreamy worlds can be hardly delineated. In her art we see enigmatic beings whether it is a deer or some other details revealed in different images, which again traces to Niko Pirosmanishvili’s art and give visitors intense sensations of reality. Paintings of Nika Kutateladze reveal real facts and social hardship of people’s lives. We become witnesses of “social archeology”, where daily life, habits, skills and emotions can be seen. In his works as if environments and subjects who live within this habitat become even. As if everything is the consequence of the other and defines itself, as if climate, weather or landscape was identical to the desperate life of men.
Nika Kutateladze was born in 1989, in Tbilisi. He studied on the faculty of Architecture at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts between 2007 – 2011. In 2013 he graduated an informal master’s course at the Centre of Contemporary Art, Tbilisi (CCA-T). The majority of the artworks comprise installations and sculptures, reflecting day-to-day consumerism and different environmental issues. His later artistic utterances challenge the transformative process of architectural spaces and urban environment, in general.
